About the Artist
Bailey Cain is an artist living in San Diego, California. Since an early age, she has really loved whales. As a child she made many visits to the Nantucket Whaling Museum on Nantucket Island, which counts among its many treasures an enormous sperm whale skeleton--enough to capture any five-year-old's imagination. She also watched Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home a lot, so that probably factored in there, too.
Today, Bailey continues to draw inspiration from the sea and its inhabitants. Her work seeks to capture the beauty, simplicity, and peace of the world beneath the waves, as well as her own wonder and fascination with the incredible--often unseen--creatures with whom we are lucky enough to share our planet.
